PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments promote healing of the skin by using a patient’s own blood plasma to stimulate cells to regenerate the skin’s connective tissue. This aids the production of collagen and elastin which improves the overall quality and texture of the skin. It also helps to plump the skin and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles and is mainly used for full face rejuvenation. Other benefits include improved elasticity, tone and thickness of the skin which contributes to the remodelling of collagen fibres.
After a small volume of blood is taken to isolate growth factors, PRP then defines a high concentration of blood platelets in a small volume of the plasma. From here, one of our skin experts then uses a microneedling device to deliver the growth factors and hyaluronic acid back into the skin. This acts as a form of massage, allowing for greater penetration of the tissues to stimulate and tighten the skin further, resulting in overall skin rejuvenation.
Treatment Guide & FAQs
What happens first?
Before we carry out any treatment, we will ask you to book an initial consultation with our aesthetic doctor. During this consultation, we’ll take a full medical history and carry out the latest Visia computerised skin analysis to take magnified 3D images of your face.
We’ll also carry out a visual assessment of your skin and talk to you about your needs, hopes and expectations. We’ll find out a bit more about lifestyle factors that might not only affect your skin, but also what type of treatment would be most suitable. Having gathered all this valuable information, we’ll create a bespoke treatment plan that is entirely focused on you as an individual.
Will you suggest other treatments?
It may be that you come to us thinking you need one type of treatment but that we are able to suggest a more suitable alternative. Whatever the case, we will very much consider your individual needs and give you an honest assessment, including realistic expectations of the outcomes of your treatment.
What is PRP used to treat?
PRP is mainly used for full face rejuvenation. It aids the production of collagen and elastin which improves the overall quality and texture of your skin. It helps to plump the skin and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles
What happens during a treatment?
We will gently take a sample of your blood and this is then spun in our centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. Once we have cleansed and prepared the skin, we will inject the platelet-rich plasma using a ‘mesogun’ for even and comfortable distribution. The ‘mesogun’ enables us to select the depth of needle, amount of product and speed in which to inject and is powered by pneumatic pressure generated by an air compressor to relieve the discomfort of the needle insertion. Your skin will be a little red after treatment and we’d advise you not to apply any make-up for 24 hours post treatment.
Will it hurt?
PRP involves multiple injections but, by using the ‘mesogun’ with its very fine needle, sensations are minimal.
How long will my PRP treatment take?
We generally allow 60 minutes for a PRP treatment so that nothing is rushed and you feel looked after.
How much does it cost?
A single treatment costs £500 and a course of three is £1200.
