How Profhilo Body can transform sagging skin

As many of our patients at Waterhouse Young will attest, Profhilo has become one of the most popular and trusted treatments available in recent years. The first BDDE-free, stabilised injectable substance, offering one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo is one of the original and most industry-approved brands of liquid injectable skin booster. Profhilo is an injectable treatment that is both preventative and corrective in combating the signs of ageing. 

Injectable moisturisers have grown in popularity in recent years, since unlike creams and lotions applied to the skin’s surface, they reach deep into the dermis, delivering high levels of moisture where it can achieve the greatest effects. Unlike dermal fillers, which change the structure of the face, Profhilo treats skin laxity via hydration to promote youthful skin.

What is Profhilo?

Rather than a dermal filler, Profhilo is actually a bio-remodelling product, which is in fact a new category of injectable moisturiser. Combining two types of hyaluronic acid, HA and LHA, Profhilo uses these powerful components to produce longer-lasting effects. In addition to its incomparable hydrating properties, treatments promote intensive skin laxity remodelling, reducing the sagging tissue that occurs during the natural ageing process.

Both Profhilo and dermal fillers are made from synthetic versions of hyaluronic acid, which whilst found naturally in the body, gradually depletes over time. Dermal fillers also contain a chemical known as BDDE which is necessary to lift, sculpt and contour. Profhilo however is not used to change structure, but is designed to restore hydration to the skin. It is made from pure hyaluronic acid with no chemical cross-linking agents, so when we inject it, the product disperses to treat an entire area.

How does Profhilo work?

Since Profhilo is made from pure hyaluronic acid with no added chemicals, it is extremely safe and un-reactive, with negligible downtime and side effects. The treatment works by engaging our skin’s receptors to induce the stimulation of collagen, the protein that provides structure and strengthens the skin. During a treatment, Profhilo is injected uniformly into the superficial layer of skin so that the product disperses gradually over the following 24 hours. The effect is a marked restoration of hydration, increased collagen and elastin production, and a visible improvement in the youthfulness of the skin’s texture. Clients notice a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles as well as a general ‘remodelling’ effect that no other injectable provides. 

What is Profhilo Body?

Recently launched in the UK, Profhilo Body allows us to use this trusted treatment more broadly, for the benefit of more areas of the body. Profhilo Body is currently the only injectable treatment specifically designed to treat body skin laxity, reinvigorating ‘crepey’ skin, and achieving transformational results on the décolletage, abdomen, arms, knees and hands. Treatment takes part in two to three sessions, typically four weeks apart, and in addition to improving overall skin elasticity, also smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, whilst providing unparalleled hydration. Using the same high purity hyaluronic acid as the Profhilo facial product, the Profhilo Body treatment also incorporates a Body Patch to soothe the skin after treatment, as well as a Body Cream to use as part of your at-home skincare routine, to increase the longevity of the treatment’s benefits. 

How does the treatment work?

As we mentioned, Profhilo Body comes as a full treatment kit including body patches and a cream, specifically designed to soothe, hydrate and strengthen the skin. The injectable treatment is characterised by high and low molecular weight stable cooperative Hybrid Complexes (HCC) of high concentration ultra-pure hyaluronic acid, created using an innovative thermal production process. This is why the treatment is uniquely effective in rejuvenating crepey skin on the décolletage, arms, abdomen, knees and hands.

Following your in-clinic treatment, the Body Patch will soothe and moisturise the skin, and also contains high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. In addition, the patches contain a number of natural active ingredients: Salvia Haenkei, a plant extract with strong antioxidant properties; Arnica Montana, which soothes and provides relief; Escin, which is used to prevent the build up of liquids; and Pineapple Extract, which is known to restore natural tone and glow to the skin. 

Your kit also includes a multi-active modelling and firming cream which restores tone and elasticity whilst providing deep hydration. Containing high concentration Matrixyl® 3000 complex in addition to low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acids, the cream is delivered in an airless bottle, allowing for full use of the contents, improved hygiene and precise dispensing of the product.  A clinical study of the treatment has shown increased skin hydration (+42%), elasticity (R2 + 6% and R5 + 9%) and an improvement in skin firmness (52%) 28 days after treatment.

Can Profhilo Body be combined with other treatments?
