Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) Treatment
Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a very common problem that affects men and women equally. However, knowing that you’re not alone doesn’t change the fact that excessive sweating can be a real hindrance. In normal circumstances, sweating serves a very important purpose as it helps to control our body temperature, especially when we’re exercising or in hot surroundings. It’s also a normal response to a rise in temperature or anxiety.
Unfortunately, for one percent of the population, the sympathetic nervous system that controls sweating goes into overdrive – this is known as hyperhidrosis. This excessive sweating means that you sweat excessively at inappropriate times, far in excess of what your body needs to control its temperature. As someone with hyperhidrosis, you may have experienced many years of living with this condition. It’s typical to have to deal with wet and stained clothes, clammy hands, sodden shoes, and even to struggle with handling many everyday objects.
The great news is that Botox injections are finally offering hope to people with hyperhidrosis. By injecting Botox into the affected area, we are able to reduce sweat production by up to 90% meaning that excessive sweating need no longer be a problem. It’s a remarkable solution that is changing lives. If you are experiencing excessive sweating, your first step is to book an initial consultation with our aesthetic doctor. We’ll take a full medical history and discuss how hyperhidrosis affects you, as well as your hopes for treatment. Once we understand the extent of the problem, we will create a bespoke treatment plan based on what we believe will give the best outcome.

I work in the City which, for me, means long and stressful days and, until recently, I have had the very real and embarrassing problem of excessive underarm sweating (large damp patches noticeable even as I first sit down at my desk). I know this is a common problem but it was really affecting me and it wasn’t until I read an article in the Evening Standard that I knew it was actually a medical condition which could be treated.
The article was linked to the Waterhouse Young clinic and, having read their informative website (with great reviews which helped me, hence sharing mine now), I made an appointment. After seeing the doctor (Saira) for a consultation, she applied a numbing cream to both armpits. She said there would be many small injections where she would inject the Botox, so the cream was to make the treatment easier. In all fairness I barely felt a thing.
The results are incredible. This treatment has completely changed my working life. I have now had two rounds of treatment, it lasts about 6 months and is worth every penny.
