Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable treatment that is both preventative and corrective in combating the signs of ageing. It is made from pure hyaluronic acid with no added chemicals which makes it extremely safe and unreactive. Profhilo works by engaging the body’s receptors to induce the stimulation of collagen which is the protein that strengthens our skin and gives it structure.

Our introduction to Profhilo

Restoring hydration for long-lasting radiance

Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo does not change the facial structure. Profhilo is injected uniformly into the superficial subcutaneous layer of skin, where it disperses within 24 hours. This restores hydration while increasing collagen and elastin production to give a youthfulness that no other injectable treatment can. The most popular areas to be treated are the face, neck, hands, décolleté, abdomen and arms.

Profhilo treatment guide & FAQs

Before we carry out any treatment, we will ask you to book an initial consultation with one of our aesthetic doctors. Here we will take a full medical history and, if required, carry out a Visia computerised skin analysis that allows us to examine magnified 3D images of your face.

We will also carry out a visual assessment of your skin and talk to you about your needs, hopes and expectations. Having gathered all this valuable information, we will then have a better understanding of which treatment you need to achieve the best outcome.

It may be that you come to us with a specific treatment in mind however, if on assessment, we feel an alternative might be more appropriate then we’ll let you know. Whatever the case, we will very much consider your individual needs and give you an honest assessment, including realistic expectations of the outcomes of your treatment.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance found in the body; it is our own natural moisturiser. We are all born with a certain amount of hyaluronic acid but it gradually depletes over time, which results in the loss of volume as well as lines and wrinkles (just compare a baby to a grandparent). Therefore, any treatment to replace some of this lost hydration is going to be beneficial.

One of the unique properties of hyaluronic acid is that it can hold up to 1000 times its body weight of water. Whilst some cosmeceutical products and treatments help, the most popular and effective way to restore lost HA is by using injectable treatments.

The use of Profhilo is quite different to dermal fillers as it is not used to change structure, it is used to restore hydration to the skin. Profhilo is made from pure hyaluronic acid with no chemical cross-linking agents, so when we inject it, the product disperses to treat an entire area such as cheeks/jawline, neck or abdomen.

We always advise there may be a bump at the injection sites for up to 24 hours after, as this is the time it takes for the product to be absorbed.

With any injection there is a small risk of post-treatment bruising or swelling at injection points however, since we inject so superficially this is minimal. You may find that if you are having your neck treated, the bumps can last a little longer due to the skin being thinner.

There are specific points to inject to follow the protocol for Profhilo. Not all clinicians will practice in this way however this is what is recommended by Profhilo manufacturers and is known to be most effective. This is known as the 5-point BAP technique for the cheeks and jawline and 10-point BAP technique for the neck.

Profhilo treatments are spaced 2-4 weeks apart. This is either repeated in 6 months time or a single treatment is taken every 3 months to keep on top of things.

The price varies on where we are treating and the amount being injected. A course of 2 treatments is £800 (for the face) or £1050 (for one body area e.g. neck, hands).

We also have course prices for those who wish to schedule for the year ahead.
